| Esteemed Professor Retires |
|
At the recent Friends' Day, Dr. Stan Reid announced the forthcoming resignation of Dr. Michael R. Weed. Dr. Weed currently holds the Billie Gunn Hocott Chair at AGST. He will retire from full-time teaching in August.
A native of Austin, Dr. Weed attended the University of Texas for one year before transferring to Abilene Christian University where he received a B.A. in 1963 and a M.A. in 1966. After completing his studies at ACU, Dr. Weed served one year as campus minister at the University of Arizona in Tucson before returning to Austin where he was employed as a copy editor at Sweet Publishing. In Austin he completed the Bachelor of Divinity degree at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. While there, Dr. Stuart Currie encouraged him to apply for the doctoral program at Emory University.

| Beyer Computer Lab Meets Student Needs |
|
The computer lab at Austin Grad is becoming a popular gathering place for students. Thanks to the generosity of Louise Beyer, students use the lab to research and write class papers. During the Building the Dream Campaign, Mrs. Beyer donated the funds for the lab in memory of her husband, Dr. Jim Beyer (1939-2007).
Several friends of Austin Grad provided the money for four new computers, monitors and desks. The use of smaller computers and wall-mounted monitors leave adequate space in the lab for small group discussions and seminar-style classes.

| Sermon Seminar |
|
The 30th Annual Sermon Seminar is scheduled for May 23-25, 2011.
This is what one participant had to say about last year's seminar: I came here feeling tired and broken in ministry. God used the speakers to revive and inspire my work for the Lord. I feel more a part of the "story" after being here this week. There is nothing quite like Sermon Seminar.
Space is filling up. Register today to reserve your place at Sermon Seminar. Call Debbie at 512/ 476-2772. | | |
