Is Austin Grad an accredited seminary? Can coursework completed at Austin Grad be transferred to other institutions?

Austin Grad is accredited by the Commission of Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award B.A. and M.A. degrees. This is the same agency that accredits major schools such as the University of Texas. Coursework completed at Austin Grad is generally transferable to other institutions.

Does Austin Grad offer an undergraduate program and degree?

Austin Grad is proud to offer a B.A. in Christian Studies. Graduates of the program are well prepared for positions in ministry, and for studies toward an advanced degree.

What are the qualifications of Austin Grad’s faculty?


Austin Grad’s four full-time faculty members hold multiple degrees from institutions including Vanderbilt, Yale, Princeton and Emory. All hold a BD/MDiv and PhD. Together, they offer over 90 years experience teaching Bible and theology. All are active in their home congregations, and are sought after guest speakers. This ongoing interaction with students and the community gives our faculty rich insight to the challenges and opportunities facing churches today.

What professional positions are Austin Grad graduates qualified to fill?


Over half of our graduates hold pulpit, youth, campus and mission ministry positions across America and around the world. Others have applied their work at Austin Grad to advanced education at other institutions. Many graduates work secular jobs while serving their congregation as leaders in lay-ministries.

I read Austin Grad is associated with the Churches of Christ. Can people of faith traditions outside of the Church of Christ attend?

While Austin Grad is associated with the Churches of Christ, we value and welcome students of other faith traditions. The majority of our student body is composed of Baptist, non-denominational, Methodist, Episcopalian and Presbyterian faiths. Approximately 40% of our students bring a Church of Christ background.

Do I need previous college experience or a degree to attend Austin Grad?

A degree is not required for admission to the bachelor’s program. However, it is beneficial to have completed 24 hours of general education coursework before enrolling. Students lacking college credit may be granted provisional admission on approval of a plan to earn the required hours. An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution is required for admission to the masters program.

How much is tuition at Austin Grad? Does Austin Grad offer scholarships or other forms of financial aid?


Tuition at Austin Grad is $310 per semester hour. Considering our excellent faculty and the quality of our education, this represents an exceptional value. Tuition at competing institutions is typically two to three times more per semester hour. Endowments and generous donors to our annual fund help keep tuition affordable. Several forms of financial aid are available including Pell Grants, student loans and VA benefits for veterans. Check with our financial aid office for details.

What is the typical class like in terms of size and diversity?

The typical class at Austin grad consists of 12 students representing a broad range of ages, nationalities and faith traditions. Enrollment is approximately 70% men and 30% women. This diversity adds unusual depth and perspective to class discussions, strengthening the learning environment. Small class sizes ensure personal interaction between the faculty and students.

I’m interested in building my faith and Bible knowledge, but do not plan to seek a degree. Does Austin Grad offer programs for non-degree seeking students?

Non-degree seeking students may attend classes under our Certificate and Auditor programs. Certificate students choose courses totaling 30 hours, pay regular tuition, and complete all assignments and tests. Students earn a Certificate of Recognition on completion of their studies. All courses earn full college credit and most can be applied toward a degree. Auditors pay a small fee and attend lectures but are not required to turn in assignments or take tests. Auditors do not earn college credit.

What makes Austin Grad different from similar institutions?

Several factors distinguish Austin Grad including our faculty credentials, diverse student body, small class size and affordable tuition.

I work full-time during the day. Are there any classes that fit my schedule?

Austin Grad’s course offering includes morning, afternoon and evening classes. Working students are encouraged to get acquainted with the school through evening classes. However, a number of courses required by our degree plans are only offered during daytime hours. Degree seeking students typically adopt a flexible work schedule that accommodates daytime classes.

Can I transfer coursework from other institutions to my studies at Austin Grad?

Austin Grad can accept qualifying hours from regionally accredited institutions. Contact the admissions office to determine if your prior coursework is transferable.

Can I still enroll for next semester?

While we encourage students to meet the 'priority registration deadlines' published online and in our course catalog, Austin Grad maintains an 'open registration’ policy. This policy allows students to enroll up to the first day of class. However, students seeking admission into degree programs and/or applying for financial aid after the priority deadline will need special approval from the registrar and financial aid office. Does Austin Grad offer student housing?

Austin Grad does not maintain student housing. However, there are numerous apartments, duplexes and homes available in our immediate area. Proximity to main roadways and public transportation make it easy to access the school from outlying areas, as well.
